Asia Center Faculty Seminar Series Grant

The Asia Center offers grants of up to $10,000 to support seminar series organized by Harvard faculty members, preferably in pairs or small groups. The seminar series must involve at least two Asian countries (from East, South, or Southeast Asia) and must approach the topic from more than one discipline. Individual talks may focus on single countries and involve a single discipline.

Preference will be given to faculty who collaborate across more than one Harvard school and to projects with meaningful graduate student participation. Grants are for one year, although applications for renewal are encouraged. Series that are primarily funded by the Asia Center should be branded as Asia Center series.

Applicants are responsible for identifying, contacting, and coordinating (dates, travel, accommodations, etc.) with potential speakers. Under most circumstances, grant funds will be transferred to and administered by one of the applying faculty members’ home department. If this is not possible, applicants should contact the Asia Center in advance of submitting the application to discuss whether the Asia Center can administer the fund.

The Asia Center will consider small, off-cycle grants (up to $2,000) for projects that fall outside of the above categories. Please contact Jorge Espada at jorge_espada@harvard.edu before submitting an application.
