Asia Center Graduate Research Grants

Harvard University Asia Center

In response to Harvard's ongoing travel restrictions, the Asia Center will consider funding undergraduate and graduate research grant applications that do not involve travel, living expenses, or equipment purchases, with the following exception:

Doctoral students may petition for travel authorization to the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs for critical research to a single country for a minimum of 90 consecutive days. Details available at Only travel approved via this process is eligible for Asia Center funding.

Research must look at two or more countries of East, South, and Southeast Asia comparatively or explore the relations among Asian countries. Individual country topics may only be considered for Southeast Asian countries or if they are part of broader, multi-country research. This multi-country context must be made explicit in the application.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Grant recipients are required to submit a written report upon completion that may be used by the Asia Center online and in printed materials.

Grants are open to students who will be returning to Harvard for at least one semester following the funded activity. Students must be in good standing at the time of funding.
