Grants of up to $20,000 to support seminar series organized by Harvard faculty, preferably in pairs or small groups. Series must involve at least two Asian countries (from East, South, or Southeast Asia) and must involve more than one discipline, although individual talks may focus on single countries and involve a single discipline. Preference will be given to faculty who collaborate across more than one Harvard school and to projects with meaningful graduate student participation. Grants are for one year, although applications for renewal are encouraged.
Applying and Conditions
Please note that all Asia Center faculty grant recipients (for both research/travel and conference) will be required to present on their funded activities on a mutually agreed upon date, as part of the Asia Center Seminar Series. Any funds not spent at the end of two years must be returned to the Asia Center.
Preference for Asia Center faculty grants is given to ladder faculty as defined by the different Schools. Potential applicants from Harvard Medical School must contact Elizabeth Liao, Executive Director of the Asia Center (email@example.com) in advance to determine eligibility.
Applicants should submit the AC Faculty Grant Application Form 16-17 (available below), a proposal of three to five pages including research plans, the significance of the project to the field, the anticipated time-line, CVs of all applying faculty members, and a one-page budget and one-page budget justification. Proposals should be submitted by e-mail to Jorge Espada at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not receive confirmation of receipt within one business day, please inquire.
