Myanmar: The Invisible Crisis

Since launching a coup in 2021, the junta of Myanmar has arrested, jailed, tortured and murdered tens of thousands who have openly resisted military rule. As the crisis in Myanmar has worsened, the junta has escalated its assaults on civilians by attacking schools, clinics, monasteries, churches, mosques and shelters using sophisticated weapons of war.
Tom Andrews, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Myanmar and Director of the Asia Center’s Southeast Asia Human Rights Project, argues that there are viable options for the international community to address this crisis and support the people of Myanmar. But, time is running out. In this talk, Andrews will describe the crisis in Myanmar and what the world can and must do about it.
