Vietnam Cultural Heritage Showcase
Nguyễn Bông Mai is a Vietnamese journalist, project director, cultural storyteller, and founder of Vietnam 1102 – House of Stories. After nearly two decades working in television and media, she began a deeply personal journey to document the cultural diversity of Vietnam. In 2022, she traveled alone across the country for 99 days, spending time in remote communities and meeting the women, artisans, and elders whose knowledge and traditions are still part of everyday life.
That journey became Vietnam 1102 – House of Stories, a cultural project built from the stories, photographs, traditional dress, and encounters Mai collected along the way. The name "1102" is a play on the Vietnamese expression "có một không hai," meaning "one of a kind," reflecting the singular character of Vietnam's cultural heritage: each community, each textile, and each tradition carries an identity of its own.
During the showcase, Mai will share:
- Photography Exhibition: Life & People of Vietnam's Ethnic Communities
- Traditional Costume Exhibition: authentic traditional costumes worn by women from Vietnam's ethnic minority communities, along with the stories behind their textiles, colors, craftsmanship, and cultural identity
- Book Presentation: A Brilliant Visual Journal: Vietnamese Women's Ethnic Costume
Please stop by, meet Bông Mai, and learn more about her cultural projects.
