Phrae Chittiphalangsri
Phrae Chittiphalangsri is Associate Professor and Chair of the MA Programme at the Chalermprakiat Center for Translation and Interpretation (CCTI), Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok. She holds a PhD in Translation Studies/Comparative Literature from UCL. A former co-editor of New Voices in Translation Studies (2008–2012), she currently serves on its advisory board and has been Co-Vice President of IATIS since 2021. Her research focuses on Thai translation history, Orientalism, and postcolonial studies, with work published in Translation Studies, Target, The Translator, and others. She has contributed to the Routledge Encyclopedia of Translation Studies and A World Atlas of Translation, and recently co-edited Of Peninsulas and Archipelagos: The Landscape of Translation in Southeast Asia (2024) with Vicente Rafael. Her current projects explore Thai postcolonial and Anglophone fiction. She is also lead editor of the forthcoming Anthology of Modern Thai Literature and works across English, French, and Thai as a literary translator.
